Michigan Hiking Series

The wildly popular Michigan Hiking Series moves on to hike #2 of the season.  One of the hikes will be to the top of a currently unnamed peak, which we hope to have named Wolverine Peak!  Climbing the peak will lend additional support for our cause of renaming it.

The two remaining hikes are:

July 30 - PT13736 (soon to be Wolverine Peak??)

August 13 - Democrat combo - three or four 14ers in one day

If you are considering joining us on these hikes, we highly recommend that you spend some time reviewing www.14ers.com for valuable information on hiking and mountaineering in general.  Of particular importance is the Mountaineering Safety Page.

We want the hiking series to be fun and enjoyable for our members, however please be mindful of the fact that there are potential dangers to hiking.  We will need those planning to join to sign a waiver releasing the club from any liability.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR JUDGING YOUR OWN ABILITY AND PREPARING YOURSELF FOR THAT DAY'S HIKE.  For the novice hiker, there will be those of us amongst the group who are familiar with the trails, route finding and who will be willing to share our hiking knowledge with you.

Hiking gear needed for the hikes will include items that you would generally need for spending a day outside in Colorado: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, drinking water, and a comfortable pair of shoes. Of course feel free to bring along any additional gear such as cameras, hiking poles, GPS/compass and maps.

As it is Colorado, we highly recommend that you prepare for changes in the weather.  We all know how fast it can change here.
